郭不静 “guo.bu.jing”
The name “guo.bu.jing” stems from my given name in Chinese, 郭雯静, Guo Wenjing. The first two characters are shared - my family name and then a generational name that my sister and I both have. But the last character, 静, is mine alone. It means quiet, peaceful, obedient.
While I now sense the importance of holding peace within oneself, 不静 (“not quiet”) arose when I wanted to give myself permission to do without conforming, create without inhibition. And since then, that is still what the name symbolizes to me.
Here I present a showcase of my interests, both incomplete and ever-expanding, in the stories, traditional knowledge, and beauty of making. I hope it offers you something as it has for me.
